All of us at Abyss Vanuatu Ocean Institute (AVOI) are incredibly proud and excited to be participating in PIFCE 2026 as we will be formally launching the Vanuatu’s First Ocean Institute.
For us, this forum is more than an event. It is an opportunity to stand alongside regional leaders, innovators, government partners, conservation organisations and climate-change specialists to show what Vanuatu can deliver when local capability, science, technology, kastom knowledge and practical action come together.
AVOI will be attending with a team of more than 15 people, along with a significant range of marine, drone, monitoring, conservation and restoration equipment to showcase our areas of focus: reef restoration, turtle nesting protection, autonomous monitoring, Ocean Ranger training, marine education, eco-tourism, community engagement and scalable climate-resilience projects.
We are also proud to announce that the first Vanuatu Ocean Rangers will be introduced at the forum. This marks an important step in building a locally trained, nationally scalable team dedicated to protecting, monitoring and restoring Vanuatu’s ocean environment.
Our message is simple:
Guided by Kastom. Assisted by Science. Delivered by local Ocean Rangers.
We thank the organisers of PIFCE 2026 for creating a platform where bold ideas can become real partnerships, and where practical solutions for the Pacific can be shared, challenged and strengthened.
We are honoured to be part of the conversation, and even more excited to begin the work.
Yours in full respect,
Carl Fallon
