Describe your innovation

We would like to feature a Polymer, made from recycled mining waste, which replaces the cement and chemicals in concrete. This Polymer works with our recycled plastic fibres to give

How is this solution is innovative?

This Polymer is the only one in the world and has been developed over the last 2 years with Universities in Australia, and a Polymer PHd. As well as taking away the need for cement and chemicals, it utilises the mine tailings, for example produced in New Caledonia. These mine tailings can be utilised throughout the pacific to make better longer lasting concrete.

How can the innovation be replicated and scaled up in other PICTs?

The solution and innovation has already been scaled up. We have developed a process, that involves the clients and customers in improving the finished products and infrastructure.

We request samples, of what is currently being used, and what strengths are required, then we replace the climate damaging materials with solutions that work better, and sharing this information and process with the client.

How is the solution cost‑effective and affordable in the context of Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs)?

Our combined solutions, are cost effective not just for the project costs, but also by extending the life of the infrastructure, and reducing the need for costly repairs.

To gauge the true value of an innovation, I agree, do not look at the single project, but we must visualise the life of the infrastructure, as replacing relatively new infrastructure, due to rusting steel reinforcement, or broken concrete is the true cost.

We have supplied 400 plus projects throughout Australia, Timor, Kiribati, and Palm island off the Australian coast. This is an aboriginal council, that has saved over $2 million using our innovations.
