Innovative Health – Strengthening Climate Resilient Health Through Partnerships

The Ministry of Health, in partnership with Burnet Institute, Respond Global, and WHO, is implementing a multisectoral approach to strengthen climate-resilient health systems in Vanuatu. This integrated solution focuses on ensuring continuity of essential health services in the face of climate shocks and extreme weather events. Respond Global supports outreach to remote communities and is advancing climate-resilient infrastructure through renewable energy solutions and improved medical equipment and supply systems. WHO, through GEF-supported initiatives, is strengthening digital connectivity to enhance surveillance, coordination, and response. Burnet Institute is supporting the development of Vanuatu’s first Climate Change and Health Integrated Research Agenda, pandemic preparedness, disease surveillance and elimination. Together, these efforts provide a locally grounded, scalable model for resilient health systems.
