The Renewable Energy Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment deploys through projects renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies through partnerships with development partners and promoting private public partnership in the Energy Sector and end users.

  1. Fixed Dome/Puxin Biogas System 

  •  5 small scale household biogas systems 

 

2. Portable Biogas System 

  • 20 Home, Hotels and Restaurants biogas systems 

 The way forward

 

  • Enhance collaboration between government and private sector to deploy biogas as mitigation and adaptation intervention to climate change 

  • Looking for funding avenues to sustain the deployment of biogas systems in Samoa using local available materials  

  • Strengthen awareness campaign on RET and waste management and cost savings  

  • Promote expansion of biogas systems installation in hostels, hotels, community and local businesses

  • Strengthen capacity building on installation, maintenance and operations of systems and bottling systems 

  • Develop business model and plan for CNG bottling
